About

Hey friends! I’m Annette, a self-taught miniature artist and casual blogger. I began making miniatures back in 2012, mainly focusing on food. My medium of choice is polymer clay. I use 1:12 scale, also known as 1-inch scale or standard dollhouse scale.

The Small Stuff Studio is my little corner of the internet where I blog about miniatures, share my works in progress, and showcase my completed projects. It is also a place where I help fellow hobbyists complete their own unique projects by providing miniature printable downloads.

I hope you'll stick around or check in occasionally. I look forward to sharing my projects with you!

FAQ

Q: Are the printables free?

A: My printables are available for free and are for personal use only. I design all my templates in Adobe Photoshop and place them in a Word document.  Then, I convert the document to a PDF file for 2 reasons:

  • To ensure the print quality of the images; and
  • I want to be able to credit the original artist or designer if necessary.

Q: Are all your miniatures handmade?

A: All my miniature foods are hand sculpted by me from polymer clay, and I often whip out tools and other implements to create every detail.

Q: Are your miniatures true to scale?

A: I take life size measurements of an object and then convert those measurements into 1:12 scale. This ensures that my finished project is close to scale as possible.

Q: How do you care for polymer clay miniatures, charms, and jewelry?

A: My finished pieces are made from polymer clay, which basically turn into plastic after baking, so the pieces are water resistant. I avoid leaving them in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as doing this can cause fading. I don’t use harsh chemicals to clean them as it can damage the clay. I also dust my miniature pieces with a fluffy, soft-bristled brush.
